Our Story at Hotel Vall Amagada del Molí

From city lights to the hills in Catalunya’s Llémena Valley, our story is one of hospitality and love for adventure.

We’re Robin and Karel, originally from the Netherlands, now living in the heart of Catalunya’s Llémena Valley. After years of working and living in the city, the time felt right for a new chapter with nature and culture.

From the moment we arrived in Catalunya, something clicked. The stillness, the people, the cycling routes, it all felt right. A few months later, we discovered a historic watermill estate. Overgrown, a little wild, yet full of character and history. It didn’t take long to decide.

By September, our vision was set and the offer made. That’s where the Vall Amagada story began.

THE VISION

This isn’t just a renovation. It’s a transformation. The historic Catalan masia is becoming a 15 room boutique hotel in the Llémena Valley, complete with a fusion restaurant, event spaces, a heated pool, a bike workshop, a gym, and a pétanque court, designed for travelers seeking nature, adventure, and comfort.

Every detail is being carefully curated, from the spacious room layouts to the way breakfast celebrates local flavors. Not luxury for the sake of it, but comfort that feels intentional, authentic, and full of charm. A place as perfect for a peaceful sunrise coffee as it is for a day cycling Girona’s iconic routes.

We open on 9th of April and we cannot wait to welcome you.

  • From shared dreams to building Hotel Vall Amagada together

ABOUT US

We met at Hotelschool The Hague over ten years ago and got together after three weeks. Since then, we’ve been building together, in life, in work, and now in stone and soil.

Robin always wanted to run a boutique hotel. She worked in events, operations, and revenue management, then became manager of two hotels, including one she opened from scratch. She also planned weddings alongside her hospitality work.

Karel grew up in hospitality. His parents had a hotel on Texel, where he worked summers. After his studies he dabbled in the world of motorsport events, earned a master’s in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in France, and launched a luxury mobility startup.

Different paths, a shared vision, and the desire to create the kind of hotel we’ve always wanted to stay in.

WHY HERE?

Vall Amagada means “hidden valley” and that is exactly what this place feels like. Quiet, grounded, and full of natural light and life.

Nestled in the hills of Sant Esteve de Llémena, the estate is surrounded by forests, cycling routes, hiking trails, and sweeping views. It is peaceful without feeling remote, a place that invites you to linger and explore.

That is what we are bringing to life. A boutique hotel that feels calm, intentional, and effortless to be in.

OUR VALUES

For us, hospitality starts with thoughtfulness. A room that’s practical and beautiful. A breakfast that’s simple and delicious. A service that’s warm and relaxed. We’re here to build something that feels real, personal, and welcoming from the moment you arrive. And we’re sharing the process as we go.
