Christmas in Spain 2026: an all inclusive countryside Christmas near Girona
Spending Christmas in Spain does not have to mean a beach resort or a city break. Hotel Vall Amagada del Molí, a boutique hotel in a restored 1789 watermill in the Llémena valley near Girona, hosts a countryside Christmas from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day. No shopping, no cooking, no washing up: just good food, fresh air, live music and time together.
All inclusive: one price for the whole of Christmas
Christmas at Hotel Vall Amagada del Molí is booked as a package with one all inclusive price. That price covers the stay and the full festive programme, so nobody has to cook or organise a thing:
The stay: two nights (24 to 26 December) or three nights (from 23 or 24 December) in one of the hotel's fifteen rooms, with breakfast every morning.
The festive meals: a five course dinner on Christmas Eve, then afternoon tea and a five course dinner on Christmas Day.
The activities: a Christmas Day walk through the valley, led by the hotel team.
The entertainment: live music all weekend.
With the three night package, also: brunch on Boxing Day and an optional group ride.
Price: two nights from €948 per room for two people (€474 per person) and three nights from €1,202 (€601 per person), in a Standard room. The third night, with the brunch and the ride, adds only €127 per person. One person from €649. Wine and other drinks are not included.
What this Christmas is about
The hotel has only fifteen rooms, so Christmas here feels like being at a large country house full of light and music. It is made for couples, families and groups of friends who want to celebrate without the work of hosting. The days are shaped by walks, long lunches that turn into afternoon tea, and evenings of live music. In 2026 Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday and Boxing Day on a Saturday, so a long weekend through to Sunday is easy to plan.

Christmas Eve, 24 December
A five course dinner with live music. An evening to sit back at the table with nowhere else to be.
Christmas Day, 25 December
The day starts with a Christmas walk through the valley. Afternoon tea follows, and in the evening there is a second five course dinner.
Boxing Day, 26 December
With the three night package: brunch and, for anyone who wants it, a group ride on the quiet roads of the valley. With two nights, the day starts with breakfast before heading home. In Catalonia the 26th is a public holiday called Sant Esteve, which is also the name of the village the hotel sits in.

Standard and Deluxe rooms with stone walls, rain showers and boxspring beds.
Suites with a freestanding bathtub.

Dogs are welcome, and the outdoor pool is heated and open all year, winter included.

Cycling around Girona at Christmas
Girona is one of Europe's best known cycling regions, and in winter its roads are at their quietest. Guests who do not bring a bike can rent a Cervélo road or gravel bike at the hotel, and the Boxing Day group ride, part of the three night package, is an easy way to discover the valley.
