“We want the house to breathe Catalunya. Stone walls, soft light, generous rooms, and service that feels natural and warm.”— Robin Verkade, co founder
Vall Amagada is transforming the rural estate formerly known as Mas El Molí in Sant Esteve de Llémena into a boutique hotel that preserves the story of an old mill while bringing contemporary comfort for design minded guests and active travelers. The hotel is progressing through the official licensing process in Catalunya and plans to open in April 2026.
A setting shaped by nature
The Llémena Valley in Garrotxa is defined by oak and holm forests, quiet roads, rivers and natural pools, and small villages. At the property, guests will find a heated pool, a gym, broad terraces with long views, and rooms that pair rustic materials with a simple calm.
Breakfast and dinner are served daily. Evenings feature a fusion style restaurant with local and international flavors in sharing style dishes and a specialty coffee program.
“We put Catalunya first in everything we do. Before we learned Spanish we started learning Catalan so we could listen with respect and understand local life and perspectives.”— Karel den Ouden, co founder
Made for active travelers
The valley is a natural base for cyclists, hikers, trail runners, climbers, and yoga groups with scenic routes that begin at the doorstep.
At the heart of the property there is a shared laundry room with drying closets so guests can reset gear between days out. The space includes a bidon filling station and easy grab snacks. Boots storage and a dry rack help keep equipment ready for the next start.
Cycling is a house specialty within this wider offer with secure storage, a cleaning station, a fully equipped workshop, and a recovery service for longer rides.
“My workshop door will be open every day. From a quick tune to a full build, riders can roll out confident that the bike feels right for the route.”— Karel den Ouden, co founder
Weddings and gatherings
Vall Amagada will host weddings year round. Warmer months are especially popular for outdoor celebrations on the terraces and grounds. The house is fully equipped for indoor weddings in any season with an epic ceremony spot in the large central hallway and generous reception spaces, and the option for exclusive use.
In the quieter months the house will welcome business events from inspiration trips and leadership meetings to small conferences and training retreats.
